The Green Party of Michigan (GPMI) winter state meeting is being
held in Ann Arbor on Saturday/Sunday February 9 & 10.  This
gathering is being held at the Michigan League and is hosted by
the U of M Student Greens and the Huron Valley Greens.  The
public and media are invited to attend any or all of the
following (approximate times).  

* Guest Presenters
     George Albercook, Group Consensus Decision-Making
       Workshop, Saturday 9:15 - 9:45 am.
     Mary Bijian, Ann Arbor Ad Hoc Committee for Peace,
       Saturday 1:15 - 1:45 pm.
     Terry Howcott, Detroit Social Worker,
       Saturday 2:45 - 3:15 pm. 
     Bill Riney, Families Against Incinerator Risk, on
       the proposed Ypsilanti Township sludge incinerator,
       Sunday 2:45 - 3:15 pm. 

* Green Candidates Forum (Sunday 1:00 - 2:30 pm.)
    Candidates seeking the Green Party nomination for Governor
    and Secretary of State will be on hand to answer questions.
    Other candidates are being sought. Since the GPMI gained
    ballot status in 2000, two Green candidates have won elected
    offices in the state: Charlevoix County Drain Commissioner
    and Mt. Pleasant City Commissioner. 

* Green Party organizing discussions and decisions: 
    resolutions, platform amendments, bylaws amendments

* Literature Tables will be available for other area 
  organizations promoting peace, justice, democracy, 
  and environmental/economic sustainability.

The Green Party of Michigan was formed in 1987 to 
address environmental issues in Michigan politics. 
 
There are Green Parties in 43 states.  Although each 
state party sets its own goals and creates its own 
structure, Greens around the world operate on four basic
principles: 
 
   Ecological Wisdom, Grassroots Democracy, 
   Social Justice, and Peace/Non-Violence
