Subject: Quarterly Meeting Announcement

Spring State Quarterly Meeting.... May 19 & 20th.

(The spring SQM....to be held north of Traverse
City, has been announced previously, and has
just been forwarded to Green members not hav-
ing E-mail. This posting is a reminder/1st posting
please excuse duplicate postings...)

WHAT: Green Party of Michigan State Quarterly
Meeting. All members invited to attend... please
consider bringing Green supporters who are not
currently members, and get them signed up! Only
qualified members may vote on relevant business.

WHEN: Sat. & Sun... May 19th & 20th. Opening
session to start at/about 9:30 am Saturday.... with
Sunday session probably starting approx. 10 am.
Meetings to run all day Saturday, and close some-
time Sunday afternoon.

WHERE: Old Mission Peninsula, just north of
Traverse City, northern Michigan. Main venue
will be the American Legion Hall on Swaney Rd...
near Old Mission Village, east side of peninsula,
some 17 miles north of Traverse City. Alternate
venue, with a small number of room accommoda-
tions, is the Neahatawanta Inn, on west side of
Peninsula, some 5 mi. s. of the Legion Hall, and
some 12 miles north of Traverse City. Main
meeting activities will take place @ Legion Hall,
on Saturday, with workshops/seminars, etc. shared
between the Legion Hall & the Neahatawanta Inn.
(Approx. 10-12 minutes drive time between the two
venues). No map available @ present...I'll try and
post one...but no problem in finding the meeting
places.

OVERNIGHTERS. Obviously, for many/most Greens,
an overnight or two will be required for this two-day
session in northern Michigan, unless one opts for only
a 1-day attendance. And, accommodations in the
Peninsula-proper are expensive! Accordingly, over-
nighters should consider staying @ motels in Trav.
City, then driving up to the meeting..... approx. 17
miles to Legion Hall and 12 miles to Neahatawanta
Inn. The Inn is a bed-and-breakfast...which has host-
ed Greens in the past...but has very
limited space. You can contact the Neahtawanta Inn
@ inn@oldmission.com , (231) 223-7315. Their
website www.oldmission.com/inn also has links to
other motels in the area.... for info/reservations. A
LIST OF OTHER TRAVERSE CITY AREA MOTELS
WILL BE E-MAILED, SNAIL-MAILED TO THOSE
ATTENDING, OR REQUESTING SUCH... on/around
the end of April....contact Ray Ziarno (below).
Sorry, but attendees have to make their own over-
nighting arrangements. Some, or many, of the resorts
in the area will be open, and camping facilities are
also available, for alternatives to motel/hotel use.

AGENDA. Time constraints from past meetings
has led to this two-day meeting structure. Along w/
the usual business items.... bylaws, resolutions,
structure discussions, officer elections, etc. etc.,
we'll be having some interesting speakers, and be
conducting some seminars/workshops... hopefully
so attendees can network and learn more about
fund-raising, outreach, running for office (candidacy),
media coordination, etc. etc. And, considering the
location, we're working on some recreational activ-
ties (indoor & outdoor) to entertain attendees. And,
of course, the usual edibles and refreshments will
be available. Food & refreshments planned for
morning and lunch on Saturday. Such plans for
Sunday on hold until we can determine an approx.
number of attendees on Sunday.
(A draft agenda, when completed, will
be available for those intending on attending, and
anyone interested....again....contact Ray Z below.
And, continuing updates will appear on this E-mail
list.)

REGISTRATION/CONTACT. As usual, we're asking
that those interested in attending, whether you've arranged
accommodations or not, advise Ray, or Dawn, below and
"pre-register". No $$ required until you actually
register at the American Legion Hall on Saturday
(or Sunday!). $10 on Saturday.... $ 5 if you just
want to attend Sunday functions. So...................
please contact Ray or Dawn, below, if you expect
to attend....we need such for planning purposes,
(No problem(s) if you have to cancel after "pre-
registering). Please....contact us ASAP (as soon
as possible!!!!), and what days you will be in
attendance.

Thanks! I/we look forward to this meeting and
seeing y'all. If things work out with this 2-day
venue, we hope this meeting will be a model
for future statewide meetings, as the Green Party
continues to grow and expand.

PS Anyone planning on submitting bylaws
changes/additions, resolutions, platform items...
etc....any business "stuff".... or any ideas/
suggstions relating to the meeting...please
contact Ray Z in advance of May 19 & 20th.
IF OK'd (SCC or otherwise), sufficient copies
may have to be provided...can be worked out.
For those having access to media...please
consider posting an announcement of this
meeting in your local/regional newspaper...
I'll have a sample news announcement
available for such. (Ray Ziarno)
