State Membership Meeting -- May 19, 2007

The Spring 2007 state membership meeting will be held on May 19 & 25 (Saturday) at the Lunch Studio, 444 S. Saginaw St., Flint, Michigan, 48502.

8:30 to 9:30 Breakfast, sponsored by Flint Greens; setup for silent auction near entrance of room by Lynn Meadows; registration by Doug Baker (Membership Secretary) and Randym Jones (Treasurer)
9:00 to 9:30 Meeting chaired by Meeting Manager Fred Vitale, Scribe John Anthony LaPietra, Timekeeper Lynn Meadows, Stacker Karen Shelley; discussion of agenda; officer reports
9:30 to 10:00 Nomination of state officers: Chair, Vice Chair (SCC Whip), Vice Chair (Committee Manager), Treasurer, Recordkeeper, Locals Liaison, Membership Secretary, Clearinghouse Coordinator, Meeting Manager, Elections Coordinator, National Reps to NC. 10:00 to 11:00 Speeches by nominees for disputed offices
11:00 to 12:00 Discussion on Current Political Situation in local areas, Michigan and the country:

  1. Discussion of proposal to change bylaws to move annual officer elections to first SMM of calendar year.
  2. Consideration of request for GPMI endorsement and financial support of MIImpeach.org.
  3. Discussion of racism workshop at GPUS National Meeting in Reading, PA.
  4. Consideration of request for GPMI endorsement of medical marijuana ballot initiative by Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care.
12:00 to 1:00 Lunch at the Lunch Studio
1:00 to 1:30 Votes for officers
1:30 to 2:30 Continuing discussion, focusing on plans and proposals for Michigan Greens for 2007-2008 election cycle; sign-up for committees; proposed committees to meet in next session (fund raising, candidate outreach, media outreach). This effort augments and supports the existing committees with these functions to the extent that they exist, have chairs, business, etc.
2:30 to 2:45 Announcements of vote results
2:45 to 3:00 Break
3:00 to 4:00 Meeting of committees -- chose a chair and/or reporter and develop plans/proposals
4:00 to 4:45 Reports by committees with votes on proposals (including proposals already submitted for funding delegation to the national meeting and changing the time for the annual officer elections)
4:45 to 5:00 Finish up silent auction; Announcements and any other business and adjournment
